[LearningResource](https://schema.org/LearningResource) is expected to be used as an addition to a primary type such as [Book](https://schema.org/Book), [VideoObject](https://schema.org/VideoObject), [Product](https://schema.org/Product) etc.
[EducationEvent](https://schema.org/EducationEvent) serves a similar purpose for event-like things (e.g. a [Trip](https://schema.org/Trip)). A [LearningResource](https://schema.org/LearningResource) may be created as a result of an [EducationEvent](https://schema.org/EducationEvent), for example by recording one.
